"Bittersweet" - Fabio Carvalho on his Liverpool debut

Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho has given his verdict on his debut for the club.

The Reds lost 4-0 to Manchester United in a pre-season friendly at the Rajamangala Stadium yesterday.

Carvalho, who joined Liverpool from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5 million back in May, said that his first outing for the club was "bittersweet".

“I‘m just thankful to be here and hopefully next game we can put things straight,” he said, as quoted by Liverpool Offside.

“Today it was a bit bittersweet for me because obviously it was my first game for Liverpool.

“No one likes to get beat, especially against United, but I’m sure we will be working on that for the next time we play against them, and I hit the post but next game I’m sure I will get a goal – that’s the mentality I have to go with.”

Carvalho added: “We’ve got to make sure we correct our mistakes and just work from it.

“Hopefully next game we can put everything to bed.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We fully understand where Carvalho is coming from. It must have been a sensational feeling taking to the pitch as a Liverpool player for the first time.

But, you never want to be on the end of a 4-0 loss in any type of fixture, especially to Manchester United.

The fact that Carvalho cares about a pre-season result highlights that he is a born winner. Liverpool won two major trophies last season.

So, Carvalho should fit in at Anfield simply because he wants to win. We wish the 19-year-old all the best ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Liverpool's next pre-season clash is against Crystal Palace at the Singapore National Stadium on Friday.
