Aurelien Tchouameni not interested in Liverpool move despite admiration from the Reds

Aurelien Tchouameni has been on Liverpool's watch-list ever since his stellar 2021/22 season with Monaco, but the Frenchman is said to have no interest in leaving Real Madrid.

The defensive midfielder is exactly the profile of player Liverpool need to sign before the transfer window closes, and Jurgen Klopp is a known long-time admirer of the 23-year-old - famously trying to sign him before his Real Madrid arrival last season.

Now that Moises Caicedo is set to join Chelsea, despite Liverpool's 11th hour attempt to sign the Brighton man, everyone knows Liverpool have pockets at least £111m deep, and after the deal to make Caicedo the British record transfer didn't work out in the Reds' favour, midfielders who fit the profile are starting to look hard to come by.

Fans have naturally turned their attention to Southampton's Romeo Lavia. It was reported this morning that Liverpool saw an inflated £60m bid accepted for the 19-year-old's services, but frustratingly, there have been indications that Lavia may now also prefer a move to Chelsea, despite the London club yet to agree a deal with Brighton. Sounds familiar.

Now, Tchouameni is the next high-profile midfielder to be ruled out of a move to Liverpool before deadline day, with The Athletic's David Ornstein reporting that the player has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.

It is also said that the Spanish giants see the midfielder as a key player and would not consider his departure.

Despite the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool are remain in desperate need of reinforcements and this has only been exacerbated by the unexpected departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad respectively.
