Atletico Madrid have been keeping an eye on Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, according to Fichajes, as cited by TeamTalk.

The report states that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone would like to sign the Brazil international.

Firmino is a contracted Liverpool player until June 2023. Therefore, the Reds are in control of his future.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Firmino from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of €41 million back in the summer of 2015. The forward has been an exceptional player for the Reds over the years.

Firmino has scored 95 goals and secured 73 assists in 316 appearances for the club's first-team.

The 30-year-old has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup with Liverpool.

With that being the case, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the Brazilian.

The German told Liverpool’s official website the following back in October 2021: “He is a very important player to us. He is a connector. He is the best offensive defender I ever saw in my life, definitely.

“He is a ball chaser, he is defensively incredibly smart with all the things he is doing. He is technically on the highest level, is able to play in the smallest spaces, the tiniest spaces. Can make incredibly good decisions in a really short time.

“And, on top of that, scores goals as well."

Klopp added: “Really, everybody in the team loves it [when he performs] because obviously sometimes you think he is a bit short of getting the praise or whatever for the effort he puts in.”

Firmino is ultimately a key player for Liverpool. Also, the forward is only 30 years of age, so he still has plenty to offer.

Therefore, if Atletico Madrid do submit an offer for Firmino, we don't expect the club to accept it.
