An update on Naby Keita's fitness provided by Goal and Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has suffered another injury.

With that being the case, the Guinea international did not feature against Manchester United at Old Trafford last night.

Keita has been linked with a move away from Anfield. Therefore, some Liverpool supporters thought it was a bit suspicious that the 27-year-old was not available for the club's clash against the Red Devils.

However, Keita has genuinely sustained a new injury.

As reported by GOAL: ‘While Keita’s absence from the teamsheet at Old Trafford was viewed as suspicious in some quarters, given recent speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future at Anfield, GOAL understands the injury is a genuine one, and that there is concern around the severity.'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the following in his post-match press conference: “Yesterday he was injured. It needs further assessment, but it doesn’t look like he will be in training tomorrow.

“We need more assessment. He missed yesterday, today, and how much more, I don’t know.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Keita from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of £54 million back in the summer of 2018.

The midfielder has found the back of the net 11 times and registered seven assists in 117 appearances for the club's first-team.

Keita has struggled to stay fit during his time at Anfield, which is why he has hardly represented the Reds.

We have no idea where his long-term future lies. Keita's contract expires next summer. With that being the case, the Guinea international could leave the club on a free transfer in less than 12 months time.

So, Keita is someone to keep an eye on.
