Alexis Mac Allister didn't waste any time sharing an injury update on Wednesday. He went off in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Sheffield United.
Alexis Mac Allister scored a spectacular first Liverpool goal against Fulham at the weekend. It may well be the finest first goal of any Red in history.
And so there was a bit of hype going into the Reds' following fixture with Sheffield United on Wednesday. Especially as the inclusion of Wataru Endo meant Mac Allister could play his more natural midfield role.
But things quickly turned sour. A poor challenge on his knee created a bad cut and while it was taped, the Argentine was still in pain after half-time. He had to go off around 56 minutes after struggling to get into the game.
It sounds as though there isn't too much to worry about, though. Jurgen Klopp stressed after the match that this was a cut and nothing more, and now Mac Allister himself has made that clear.
"Everything's fine," he wrote on Instagram. "I got a few stitches, but I'll bounce back soon. We keep going. Come on, Liverpool!"
It's a relief to hear that Mac Allister has to deal with stitches and not much more. The challenge could have led to something far worse - the defender's weight came right down on his knee.
For the period that Mac Allister was down, few would have been surprised to see him stretchered off, in all honesty. Instead, he'll be back quickly. Maybe even to face Crystal Palace at the weekend, depending on the severity here.
Thankfully, Mac Allister's problem isn't on that level and he should return soon.
