Alexis Mac Allister achieves feat unseen at Liverpool since Gerrard in 2013

Alexis Mac Allister produced magic once again for Liverpool on Thursday evening as he scored against Sheffield United. In doing so, he matched Steven Gerrard.

Alexis Mac Allister is the talk of Liverpool FC right now. He's pretty unquestionably their best player right now and is delivering massive moments on a weekly basis.

His latest was very special. Mac Allister smashed home a wonderful finish to put Liverpool 2-1 up against Sheffield United in what was eventually a 3-1 win.

The strike was sensational - arrowed into the top corner with absolute precision. It was like Steven Gerrard at his finest, in all honesty.

And so it's appropriate that Mac Allister actually achieved a Steven Gerrard feat with the goal. It's the sixth successive game in all competitions where the Argentine has scored or assisted a goal.

No Liverpool midfielder has managed that under Jurgen Klopp before. In fact, no Liverpool midfielder has done that since Gerrard did in 2013.

Alexis Mac Allister keeps getting better

Mac Alliser can seemingly do absolutely everything on the pitch. Again, it's very Gerrard-like and while the comparisons don't exactly do him any favours, Liverpool's no.10 is playing at the absolute highest level right now.

He's scoring goals, assisting goals, winning tackles, keeping the ball as well as anyone and just generally providing everything you could possibly want from a midfielder. It isn't hyperbole to say he could win Liverpool's Player of the Year award.

And honestly, it's not hyperbole to say he should be in the running for the Premier League's Player of the Year award. If he continues this form until the end of the season - and Liverpool do go on to win the title - we're not sure who could finish ahead of him.

A sensational player and maybe the most complete midfielder we've seen at Liverpool since Gerrard.
