Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started against West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium yesterday.

However, the 28-year-old failed to impress some of the Anfield faithful. As you can see below, a section of the Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to criticise Oxlade-Chamberlain's performance against the Hammers.

West Ham United won the aforementioned Premier League fixture 3-2.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We do have to agree with the aforementioned supporters to some degree. Oxlade-Chamberlain was not at his best against West Ham United.

The Englishman registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.61 against the Hammers. However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a decent player for Liverpool over the years.

The midfielder has scored 14 goals and registered 13 assists in 116 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

In terms of Oxlade-Chamberlain's long-term future, we believe that he still has a fair bit to offer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is only 28 years of age, which highlights that his career is far from over.

Therefore, we don't want to see the supporters or the club give up on the midfielder. Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract expires in the summer of 2023.
