"Absolutely rattled" - Ian Wright on Jordan Henderson against Fulham

Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright has criticised Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson for his performance against Fulham at Craven Cottage last Saturday.

The Reds came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Marco Silva's side. Post-game, Wright made it clear that he was not impressed with Henderson's display against Fulham.

“Liverpool were probably thinking to themselves ‘yeah, we expect them to start like this and then it would open up and we will get going’,” he told his podcast, as quoted by HITC.

“Henderson was getting absolutely rattled and rashed. Thiago (Alcantara) was getting rashed. Even Virgil van Dijk looked a little bit uncomfortable.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Henderson was far from his best against Fulham. The midfielder registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.74 for his 90-minute performance against the Cottagers.

But, one performance does not define Henderson. The captain has been superb for Liverpool over the years.

The Reds signed him from Sunderland for a transfer fee of £16.20 million back in the summer of 2011.

Since then, Henderson has found the back of the net 33 times and registered 58 assists in 451 appearances for the club's first-team.

The England international has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup (x2), FA Cup and Community Shield with the Reds.

Henderson will be remembered as a legend of the club. The 32-year-old is contracted until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.

He will be representing Liverpool for at least a few more years. Who knows when Henderson will give up the captaincy.

He's done a great job since succeeding Steven Gerrard back in 2015. But, Henderson can't represent the club forever, so it would be a good time to start searching for the club's next skipper.
