3 Liverpool players have almost certainly played their FINAL games for the club

Three Liverpool players have almost certainly already played their final games for the club. It’s all change at Anfield this summer.

There will be plenty of change at Liverpool this summer. Jurgen Klopp is off, of course, while most of the coaching staff looks likely to go with him.

But there are also a few players who look like probable exits. Their contracts are expiring and because of injuries, we're unlikely to see them play for the club again.

So here are three Liverpool players who have probably played their final game in Red.

Joel Matip

Joel Matip's contract expires in the summer and at 33 in August, he's highly unlikely to get a new one. Heartbreakingly, he won't get a farewell appearance, either, after suffering an awful knee injury back in December.

That came before we even knew that Klopp was leaving, although the Liverpool boss was aware of what a season-ending injury would mean. One of his stalwarts was out and wouldn't play for him again.

Matip will go down as a Liverpool great. He's won everything at the club and was a starting centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk for the UEFA Champions League win in 2019.

Only injury kept him from also being first-choice for the title win in 2020, too. A brilliant player and one who will be remembered at Liverpool forever.

The Athletic reports that Thiago won't get a new contract at Liverpool - and that's no surprise. The Spaniard has struggled badly with injuries for almost his entire time with the club.

It's been particularly bad this season, though. Thiago has only appeared in one fixture - and he picked up an injury. He won't play again this season as a result, and that means we won't see him in a Liverpool shirt again.

His last start? March 2023.

But Thiago was truly a world-class player at his best and he was one of the key stars in the 2022 quadruple effort. Liverpool fell just two games short of winning everything in one season - and Thiago was a massive reason they came so close.

Now, admittedly, we would have said that Adrian had played his final Liverpool game this time last year. He surprised everyone by signing a new deal in the summer, however.

There is a chance he does the same in 2024. After all, his role is that of the backup's backup - not one many teams priorities and Adrian fills the role well as an distant option who knows the squad.

But it does feel like time to move on. His heroics to win the Super Cup in 2019 mean Adrian has forever left his mark on Liverpool, let alone his 11 games in the title-winning season. The Spaniard was even between the sticks for the 2022 Community Shield win.

What more can you possibly ask of a squad player?
