Nunez has simply been unreliable in front of goal. It's infuriating but that continues to be the story with the Uruguayan.

He does virtually everything else wonderfully and Nunez is around 95 per cent of the perfect striker. He just doesn't do that really important bit very well.

Jota does do that bit well. The problem there is that he can't play with any regularity - he's played a little over one-third of Liverpool's Premier League minutes this season.

It leaves Liverpool in a predictable situation - they need a new striker. But who will that striker be?

Alexander Isak is the one linked the most with the Reds. However, he'd cost an absolutely incredible amount of money and Liverpool are reluctant to pay it.

Instead, there's a different name doing the rounds right now.

Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool

The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele says the name he is now hearing the most when it comes to Liverpool's new striker is Hugo Ekitike. The Eintracht Frankfurt star is expected to move this summer for around £60m.

And he may well be the best option for Liverpool. We've said before that Ekitike could be the superior choice against Isak, especially with cost in mind.

Anfield Watch also understands that there have been initial talks between the Reds and Ekitike. He's a genuine option and as time goes on, it feels like he may be the most likely.

We're big fans of Ekitike and certainly believe he could be the answer to Liverpool's woes up top. The Frenchman is a cost-effective option with enormous potential and honestly, could just be a player who ends up similar to Isak in a few years.
