What super-agent said about John Henry is GOOD news for Liverpool
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League despite new coach Arne Slot not bringing in a single player of his choice during last summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool Transfer Latest: Reds ready offer as star says he's STAYING
The Reds signed Federico Chiesa at the end of the window but he was widely seen as a club signing rather than one of the coach’s selections. As such, Slot is having to make do with much the same squad left to him by Jurgen Klopp.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool ready to strike deal with Colombian contract rebel
Fans have grown weary of owners Fenway Sports Group and their reluctance to spend money. It has long been a case of one-in, one-out when it comes to Liverpool’s transfer spending.
That has frustrated supporters who have watched the club fall behind in net spend compared to Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and others over the years. Of course, spending money doesn’t guarantee titles - as Arsenal and Man Utd are finding out - but it certainly helps to continually replenish the squad.
Liverpool are running into contract difficulty this summer with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. And with sporting director Richard Hughes vowing “opportunistic” signings in the transfer market, supporters could be forgiven for their alarm that the squad is about to get worse.

Slot is working in constrained circumstances and it’s a testament to his ability as a coach that he’s managed to get Liverpool to the top of the Premier League and into the Champions League last-16 with barely a penny of his own choosing spent.
Red Sox 'exhausted' by failure
But there are signs that things are about to change within the FSG ownership group. At least with the Boston Red Sox at least. Having missed the post-season for three years in succession, the Major League Baseball giants have finally gotten serious.
One of the biggest names in the sport, Alex Bregman, has signed for the Red Sox on a three-year $120 million contract - their most-expensive-ever signing. It serves as a reminder that the Boston franchise are now intent on competing at the top level after their wilderness years.
They last won the World Series back in 2018 and fans - like in Liverpool - have grown weary at a lack of competitive spending. The latest indications however are that John Henry has changed his ways.
Super-agent Scott Boras was speaking at Bregman’s unveiling and revealed that the Liverpool owner is “exhausted” at losing. There have even been links with another superstar signings in Dylan Cease having missed out on Juan Soto earlier in the off-season.
“I think it was after (Juan) Soto signed. I could tell, from knowing John back from the Marlins, that he had a real onus about: ‘We need to really do things differently than we’ve done before,'” Boras said at the unveiling per Sports Illustrated.
”I knew from the ownership level that they were really looking to correct what’s happened the last five or six years.
"These owners have needs and ideals and their hope of what they do, a lot of it is attached to their own personal feelings. This is a point in time where I believe Red Sox ownership was again hungry for championship play and I think very, very exhausted with what’s happened the last few years here.”

Having watched Man City gallop away with FOUR Premier League titles in a row, Liverpool fans will be hoping some of that spending magic will rub off on FSG’s other major sports team across the pond.
