Liverpool have a new star on their summer shortlist and it's one that will annoy Manchester City.

There's a busy, busy summer ahead at Liverpool. They don't really have any way around that.

Liverpool Transfer News: World-class star is coming as Reds WIN Real Madrid battle

The Reds look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold, for one, as he inches closer to a deal with Real Madrid. Both Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk are heading for the exit door as things stand, too.

Then there's Liverpool wanting to overhaul their entire attack. Anfield Watch understands that the Reds aren't happy with the current setup and wish to give Arne Slot a forward line that suits him.

That's a lot of trouble, then - and we haven't even got to the defence. Joe Gomez's future is uncertain after Liverpool tried to move him on last summer, while Ibrahima Konate's contract enters the final year once July ticks over.

The club will want to do something at left-back, too. Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas haven't been in the best of for this season.

It puts pressure on Robertson but Tsimikas is likely to be the one paying a higher price. Liverpool will almost certainly move for a star to replace him next season and, eventually, take over the first-choice role from the Scot.

There are plenty of targets in mind, and the latest one is one of the most interesting so far. Manchester City won't be happy.

Liverpool look at Andrea Cambiaso

Gazzetta dello Sport claims Liverpool are considering a move for Andrea Cambiaso. The Italian is widely expected to leave Juventus this summer.

Manchester City have long held an interest in making Cambiaso their new left-back. However, Juventus are actively hoping that one doesn't happen quickly.

They want more clubs to get involved, potentially driving the price of any sale. Bayern Munich are also interested but they mention Liverpool as a possible game-changer.

They like Cambiaso and are ready to get involved in the transfer battle this summer. Football Transfers rate the player at around €41m but we imagine a proper fight for him would drive the price considerably higher than that.

Cambiaso would be an interesting pickup, though. He's entering his prime years - something that's really benefited Liverpool in the transfer window over recent years.
