Liverpool have struck a deal and will now lose Marcelo Pitaluga. The Brazilian has been with the Reds since 2020.

Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga is leaving Liverpool. Pitaluga initially arrived back in 2020 as a highly-rated prospect and one who was constantly on the cusp of making the senior squad.

However, it's never worked out. Pitaluga has disappeared on several loans instead, with his latest being with Livingston in Scotland.

He's struggled to break into the first-team setup there this season, though, and will cut his loan short. Liverpool have now struck a deal with Fluminense that will see Pitaluga join immediately, per Globo.

It's an interesting deal, too. There's no transfer fee here at all, and instead the two clubs will split Pitaluga's rights.

Liverpool retain 40% of them, with Fluminense gaining 60%. Essentially, anyone who wants to buy Pitaluga in the future must pay the Reds for their share.

A £10m valuation down the line? Well, Liverpool are owed £4m of that.

Liverpool's busy transfer window

Liverpool ended 2024 with an offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold, of course. Real Madrid hope to buy him and thought £10m might tempt the Reds.

It didn't.

And Friday has been a busy one. First Crystal Palace put up £15m for Ben Doak, then Ipswich followed that with £16m.

Liverpool also rejected those offers, however. They want £30m for Doak - and will hold out until they get it.

Pitaluga, then, is the only one they've actually accepted an offer for. The transfer window at Anfield is far from over, though, and everyone should brace themselves for more offers.
