Liverpool handed MAJOR Alexander Isak boost
Liverpool are hoping for an ambitious summer transfer window when the season ends.
If any of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk or Trent Alexander-Arnold leave because their contract has expired, then they will need to be replaced, as difficult as that might be.

However, Anfield Watch understands that forward changes are almost guaranteed this summer, with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota all having their future's at the club reconsidered.
With a striker likely to be required in the transfer market, everyone's eyes are point to Alexander Isak at Newcastle and while the competition for the Swede's signature is set to be fierce, one club might be about to drop out of the race.
Arsenal might prefer Sesko to Isak
Given Isak's remarkable £150m price tag, it is understood by the Mirror that Arsenal would have to consider selling multiple players in order to stump up the fee.
As such, the Liverpool Echo believes that Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig might prove to be a more 'realistic' for the Gunners.
If that were the case, them the likelihood of seeing Isak partnering Mohamed Salah at Liverpool next season would become that bit greater.
Newcastle of course are unlikely to want to sell Isak, given how incredible he has been for the Magpies, but if the right offer comes along, then it becomes a possibility.
While Arsenal would struggle to find the money, Liverpool know that Al-Hilal were interested in signing Nunez in January, to the tune of a £80m transfer fee, which would go a long way to funding the club's Isak bid.
In addition, Diaz is favoured by Barcelona and according to FootballTransfers.com, he is the most valuable asset the Reds have in their ranks, despite his hot and cold form.

FSG have also been relatively frugal with Liverpool in recent years. Just over £150m was spent during the summer of 2023, but no signings were made in January 2024, only Federico Chiesa arrived at Anfield last summer for £15m and no signings were made this January.
As such, Liverpool will know that there are positions on the pitch that are in need of some TLC, and while the club is surging towards a potential Premier League title this season, Arne Slot will need to be backed in the transfer market in order to continue his successful start at the club.

So, while at this point, Isak is just an option for Liverpool to consider, Arsenal leaving the race would be a significant update and the focus of the club regarding forward transfers would likely pivot to ensuring a deal is struck with the Swede.
